Textbook of “Tourer Package”: Hayabusa Custom
ACTIVE's HAYABUSA
ACTIVE released a "CLASSIC CUSTOM" Gen 3 Hayabusa at the 2022 Tokyo Motorcycle Show, focusing on its "tourer" character.
This Hayabusa was remodeled to handle lightly and with high quality. To reduce the weight of the rear, the Akrapovic slip-on exhaust, the combination of Gale Speed brake system, wheels, and HYPERPRO suspension makes the Hayabusa more extreme light weight. The bike is also equipped with an ACTIVE top bridge and handlebar kit, a Gale Speed foot control kit, and pilion footpegs. The rider and passenger will appreciate the high quality, precise handling, and comfort of the bike. The Kabuki paint job (red parts = air ducts and under-seat parts in the same color) was done to bring out the internal potential of the Hayabusa, based on the idea that it oozes out of the bike itself, and that this potential has been released to overflow. This expression also indicates that the package is not specialized in any one part, but rather emphasizes overall balance as a tourer.
Bodyworks
The Zero Gravity Windshield Double Bubble Type is made of blow-molding acrylic resin that provides distortion-free vision.
The tail section, which is instantly recognizable as a Hayabusa, is equipped with an ACTIVE fender eliminartor kit with LED license plate lights, visually enhancing the sense of lightness around the rear of the bike.
Handle
ACTIVE Top Bridge & Clip-on Handlebar Kit sets the bar position to be more upright than the stock position. The standard angle is 120 degrees, which is slightly wider than the 112.6 degrees of the stock. This allows the rider to easily handle long distances, and the angle of the bars has been increased from 9.44 degrees to 10 degrees to accommodate a forward-leaning form when sport riding. The machined top bridge will give it an even more refined look.
The front master cylinder is a Φ19 Gale Speed VRE with a variable ratio machined froms forged aluminum, and the clutch master is the same Gale Speed VRE, but this one uses Φ16. Both of these parts enhance the touch and operability and make the bike feel more familiar to the rider.
Intake & Exhaust
Akrapovic titanium black slip-on, 3.9 kg lighter than the stock unit, for a lighter and more nimble feel. The pillion step bars were replaced a ACTIVE's one of the edgy machined finish, adding both function and refinement.
The rear brake master cylinder and 2-position machined caliper are also Gale Speed.
Chassis
Gale Speed foot control kit (under development) has a heel plate designed with heat exhaustion in mind. The steps are free of any bumps that would interfere with operation and are rigid enough to allow precise operation without bending even when the foot is stepped on hard. The heel guard is machined from a block of wood instead of a plate to match the voluminous cowl design of the Hayabusa. The bar position is a 4-position combination of 0 or 11mm back and 12 or 23mm up.
The 3.50-17/6.00-17 size front and rear wheels are forged aluminum Gale Speed. To avoid compromising comfort as a tourer, the TYPE-E 8-spoke design with air volume and a cushioned and stable rim shape was purposely selected. This is also expected to reduce fatigue during long-distance riding. The front and rear wheels, including sprockets, weigh 10.63 kg compared to the stock 13.47 kg. The brake calipers are also Gale Speed.
As indicated by the purple color of the rear suspension spring, the rear shock is HYPERPRO (with piggyback HPA). The front is also replaced with HYPERPRO's.
